Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 18, 2026

1.Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how PackRelay (“PackRelay”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use PackRelay.cloud and the PackRelay launcher (together, the “Service”). It applies in addition to our Terms of Service.

2.Information we collect

2.1 Account information

You provide this directly when you create an account:

  • Email address, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plaintext), and chosen display name.
  • Account role — player, server-owner, or staff member of a server-owner account.
  • Optional profile information you choose to add, such as an avatar or short bio.

2.2 Information from connected accounts

If you sign in with Discord, Steam, or another third-party provider, that provider sends us a limited set of profile data based on the permissions you approve — typically a stable user ID, your username on that platform, and your email address. We do not receive your password for those accounts.

2.3 Launcher telemetry

The launcher reports a minimal set of events necessary to operate the Service: which manifests were synced, whether a sync succeeded or failed, the launcher version, and your operating system family (Windows, macOS, Linux). We use this data to deliver modpacks correctly, diagnose failures, and measure overall service health.

2.4 Server and pack metadata

If you publish a pack or operate a server through PackRelay, the names, descriptions, manifests, and signing identities you associate with that pack are collected so they can be served to players.

2.5 Technical and log data

When you interact with the Service we automatically collect IP address, browser or launcher user agent, timestamps, referring URL, and basic device characteristics. We use this to operate the Service, protect against abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

2.6 Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses a small number of cookies and similar storage mechanisms — for keeping you signed in, for remembering your preferences, and for measuring aggregate usage. See Section 6 for the categories.

3.How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Service — including authenticating you, syncing the correct modpack to your game directory, and showing you the servers you have joined.
  • Verify and scan packs uploaded to the Service for known unsafe content.
  • Communicate with you about your account, security alerts, service updates, and (where you have opted in) product news.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
  • Aggregate and de-identify data to study and improve the Service.

4.How we share information

4.1 With other users

Information you choose to make public — such as a server-owner profile, a published pack’s name and description, or your display name when joining a server — is visible to other users of the Service.

4.2 With service providers

We share data with vendors that operate parts of the Service on our behalf, including cloud hosting, content- delivery networks, email delivery, error reporting, and pack-scanning providers. These vendors are bound by contract to use the data only as needed to provide their service to us.

4.3 For legal reasons

We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, by a valid legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of PackRelay, our users, or the public.

4.4 Business transfers

If PackRelay is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected users before their information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4.5 We do not sell personal information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

5.Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to handle disputes, enforce our Terms, and meet legal obligations. Launcher telemetry is retained in identifiable form for up to 90 days and may be retained longer in aggregated, de-identified form.

6.Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses three categories of storage:

  • Strictly necessary. Required to operate core features — session cookies for authentication and CSRF protection. These cannot be switched off.
  • Preferences. Remember settings such as your sign-in choice or display preferences.
  • Analytics. Help us understand aggregate usage of the Service. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting these.

7.Your rights and choices

7.1 Everyone

You can review and update most account information in your settings, sign out of all sessions, or delete your account at any time. Deletion removes personal identifiers from active systems; backups and abuse- prevention records may be retained for a reasonable period as described above.

7.2 EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under applicable data-protection law to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@packrelay.cloud.

7.3 California

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, including the right to know what personal information we have collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information.

8.International data transfers

PackRelay operates globally. Personal information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses — for cross-border transfers.

9.Minors

The Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The underlying game, 7 Days to Die, contains content intended for mature audiences. If you believe a person under 16 has provided us with personal information, contact us at contact@packrelay.cloud and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

10.Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, salted password hashing, signed manifests for pack distribution, and least-privilege access controls. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11.Third-party services and links

The Service may link to or reference third-party services such as Discord, Steam, Nexus Mods, or GitHub. This policy does not cover those services. Review their own privacy policies to understand how they handle your data.

12.Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

13.Contact

Questions about this policy or about your personal information can go to contact@packrelay.cloud, and general support requests to our support page.
